CRYSTAL GREEN
Jinju Si, South Korea
The Hverfjall Volcano is located in the south and the Myvatn Nature Baths is located in the southeast of the site. In order to create a better interaction between visitors and the surrounding landscape, the restaurant not only serves as a dining room but also serves as an auditorium. The natural scene is the actor on the stage, attracting people to stop and watch. On the other hand, the geographical relationship between Myvatn Nature Baths and the restaurant creates a visual relationship between the two. Therefore, restaurants should show its welcoming gesture to the Myvatn Nature Baths to encourage more people to come.
Dining in a restaurant surrounded by green gardens is a pleasing experience. But what if this kind of restaurant is in a cold, less diverse country like Iceland, especially if it’s built near a volcano in northern Iceland? Green plants are scarce here. What will the collision between outdoor barren scene and exuberant indoor green bring to people psychologically? The restaurant we propose provides immersive garden experience.
